Mondriaan Wine cares about the environment!
Mondriaan Wine bottles are made of aluminium, which material in 2010 was recycled at a rate of 58% in the US and 91% in Sweden. For glass this amounted only to 20%. The main reason for this difference being the weight: i.e. for the same volume of wine, a Mondriaan Wine bottle weights more than 5,5 times less than a glass bottle!
How does this work?
First of all, transporting glass bottles for recycling purposes bears higher costs and pollutes the environment more than producing it from raw materials. Secondly, producing a Mondriaan Wine bottle from recycled aluminium conserves energy and other natural resources. It saves up to 95 % of the energy required for primary aluminium production, thereby avoiding corresponding emissions, including greenhouse gases.
Last but not least, when it comes to transportation Mondriaan Wine generates 37,3% less CO2 than an equivalent volume of wine in glass bottles!
